#20 – Fly a Plane

#20 - Fly a Plane

I always take my birthday off each year to relax, do an activity, or travel a new place with friends, so this year I decided to tick another one off the bucket list. We turned up at Tatenhill Aviation in Burton-on-Trent after a love night in a near by cottage, hosted by The Dragon Pub. The weather was forecast 90% rain and just as I met Paul the Pilot, it took a turn for the worst! Luckily there was a break in the cloud and I was able to get going. I absolutely loved it! Paul was great, really friendly and he let me fly the plane pretty much the whole time, except the landing. The actual flying part was comfortable, fun doing turns and fascinating that the pedals only really work when on the ground. I can now say I flew over Alton Towers and England's Training Ground, St. Georges Park, which was very cool. The landing was terrifying as it was incredibly windy and it seemed we were heading for the ground, I'm glad he took charge of that bit. If I were to do this again, potentially learn to get my pilot license, it would take some patience, a lot of money, I know my directional sense would be terrible and I would get bored with all the technical bits. Fair play to anyone who does it though. I can appreciate why people fly, once you're up in the air, it was very relaxing and reminded me of scuba diving in a way, peaceful. All in all, a very cool way to turn 32.
